Figured I’d give it a shot, too. All things UGA Softball!

I'm delighted to see what a great start Jordan Doggett is off to this season! She's been one of my favorite Dawgs the last couple of years, and she's taken well to her new position and arguably has the hottest bat on the team so far. Keep it up Jordan, and go Dawgs!

Oh for sure. There have been more than a few pleasant surprises (and not so pleasant ones, re: Milz slump) but JD is absolutely one of the best. She looks comfortable in the outfield, which, admittedly could change against better competition, but right now she looks at home. MY favorite right now, though? Sara Mosley. Kid is stepping in and taking some big hacks. Kuma, too.
Pitching is the question mark but this week we get our answers. I’m excited!

Indeed, Mosely is starting off her career very well! Hopefully she can keep the momentum going against stronger competition. I'm interested to see if this will be the year when Ablan finally gets it together. She's got excellent speed and movement obviously, but in past seasons it has often seemed like she was afraid to throw a strike. If she can finally find that mental toughness to go with her physical gifts, she could make a huge difference this season.

If the first weekend was anything to go by (and it often isn’t, admittedly) I think Cutting and Ablan will mostly be used in relief. Cutting throws hard but flat, and as you mentioned Ablan is more of the movement pitcher. If you alternate them successfully, behind the right pitcher, they could really baffle opposing hitters. That said... My concern with Ablan will always be her mental, but I am 100% rooting for her to have her best year yet!

I know Northwestern is struggling a bit early to find their groove, but I was VERY impressed by what I saw against the ‘Cats today. Cutting in relief was awesome!

Tough loss, 5-2 to Texas Tech, but proud of the way Avant competed for the most part. Think the game goes much differently had she had herself together at the start but TTU made her work and had a much better game plan as a whole. UCLA next is tough but the Dawgs are competing so I’ll (try) and stay optimistic.
As always, GO DAWGS!
